After scouring the net, I purchased this watch as a gift for my wife. What attracted me was the Swiss quartz movement and the beautiful watch dial. Stuhrling is an unusual company. It was started by a Swiss gentleman whose family had been in the watch movement business for years. They had started a plant in Hong Kong to take advantage of the cheap labor costs. They brought over all the important machinery from Switzerland and claim that they trained their Chinese labor force to Swiss standards. Most of the cases and faces of the Stuhrling watches are made in China. They then will frequently put a Swiss movement in it, although most of the mechanical automatic movements in their watches are probably Chinese (e.g.-Hangzhou or Sea Gull). I haven't checked them all out. Don't think that all Chinese movements are junk. Seagull, in particular, makes some good mechanical movements. Many people think that the Swiss Claro Semag CL888 movement is a modified version of a Seagull. Stuhrling makes some of the most interesting and stylish watches on the market. Their faces are particularly beautiful. Word on the net is that they hired one of the most famous Swiss watch face designers to do their faces. This guy designs faces for the high dollar Swiss mechanical watches. If they did, it really paid off. The Stuhrling faces are among the prettiest on the market. The face on the Courtly Diamond Heart watch is an outstanding example of what I'm talking about. The background has a beautiful guilloche pattern that makes the watch look very upscale. The diamond heart and the styled numbers just add to the look. You have to have the light at just the right angle, but if you do you will see that the magnifier over the date complication is a perfect heart shape.It is also perfectly placed. This gorgeous dial along with the stainless steel case, good water resistence, Swiss quartz movement and a genuine lizard watch band, make this watch an incredible value. I don't think I've ever seen such quality fitment in an inexpensive watch prior to this one. I can't comment about the durability of the watch since we haven't had it for any length of time yet, but it is put together with extreme care and I expect it to last a while. Stuhrling, you have a real winner in this model. My wife prefers it over some of her more expensive models. Highly recommended.
